Introduction to Rail Tracks
RailThe function of the rail is to guide the wheels of locomotives and vehicles, bear the immense pressure of the wheels, and transfer it to the sleepers. The wheels must have a continuous, smooth, and low-resistance rolling surface. In fact, unlike light rail, it is a track for heavy-duty vehicles, not just the weight of the track itself, but also the heavy rail. Because the track for heavy vehicles must bear more vehicle weight, it is relatively thicker, and the requirements for track specifications are also higher. The 'light rail' in rail transport now corresponds to the monorail, heavy rail, subway, urban rail transit, urban rapid rail, intercity rail, as well as trams, rubber-tired trains, and urban rail transit light rail in the urban rail transit system, which are technically completely different, thus they are not part of the light rail system. The light rail system in urban heavy rail transit refers to trains running on international standard dual-line tracks with a gauge of 1435 mm, using an automated signaling system for train operation. In short, it has a larger cross-section than light rail and can withstand greater forces. Early mainline railways also used 78 kg rails, but now 60 kg and 75 kg rails are used.
Rails are now mainly used for transporting slightly larger mining road lines and laying factory, crane lifting equipment, and railway sidings, with a load capacity of about 15 tons to 50 tons.
